I'm guessing if it doesn't work i have to replace the entire cable front to back? I rarely listen to am/fm but i'd like it to work.
That would probably be the fix. To replace that connector, you must understand how to solder the connector properly, there is a center conductor and a shield, Iv'e seen some people try to treat both conductors as one - that won't work at all!
