So far I can't find any TSB's on the popping gears, all I find are people complaining about hard shifting and greasing the splines on the shifter, but nothing about 1st gear letting go.

I have heard of this similar thing happening on older BMW motorcycle's so most guys would end up buying new 1st and 2nd gears, and having them undercut, so that during acceleration the forces pull the gears together and not pushing them apart under load.
If this is the same problem the crossfire has with it's gear design, I don't think the dealer will ever get this problem fixed, but it seems like only a handful of people here on the forum have this same issue. I'll take it in tomorrow and see what my dealer says.
Do a search on the forum, we have discussed this at length and have listed the (TSB) Technical Service Bulletin that DC issued more than two years ago... Call your dealer, they have it in the system... Please, before you kill yourself on the west side and I have to pick-up your body parts on Pico Blvd.
