Unfortunately false. Made by the same company (Bosch) on the same assembly line. The Ford Lightning pump just has a different tube diameter on it (you can correct this by swapping the actual pump from the old MB pump, as it is only the motor that burns out) and different wire connectors (you need to fashion your own). The motors are the same though.
