Andrew, Car Rental Companies don't hand out cars without someone signing for them. It sounds like they very continently "lost" the original rental agreement, and if the only paperwork they have your signature on is for a white Grand Prix, then that's the only car they can hold you responsible for.
It looks like you're going to have to get your lawyer to write them a "stern" letter. They are simply trying to "rail road" you.
