Re: This was my first car in a coupe, Considering buying it
With respect to the issue of old cars vs. today's cars let's consider my '71 Demon.
It was fast (in a straight line) in it's day, but most any new car is faster now.
Even with the front disc brakes we ordered with it and the traction bars we added to try to control the rear wheel hop under hard braking, braking was marginal then and would be considered poor by any standard today.
With after market anti-roll bars and after market radial tires it handled better than average in it's day, but most any new car handles better now.
While it's not a great drive today, it still looks sharp (in it's original "Green Go" paint) and gets a lot of thumbs up attention, even from today's youth.
What it does best (besides bring back memories) is demonstrate how much better today's cars, even our daily drivers, are.
Don't get me wrong though, to me it's still a keeper.
