I suppose I really ought to start a new thread for this now but carrying on form the yaw sensor stuff...

I have made up a prototype molding that replaces the ashtray and mounts a 4-way rotary switch to allow me to switch the yaw sensor signal through a processor board. This will give me normal ESP, reduced ESP via a modified map and completely disabled ESP (the TC remains controlled from the standard console switch). Not sure what to use the 4th position for except perhaps another alternative map. Currently I only have 4 bit resolution (16 steps) on the output back the CAB unit which may be too coarse. I will have to try it out in the relative safety of the track next month since you really need to test it at speed to get enough lateral G; the ESP system lets you do 360's at slow speed anyway with the TC off so just hanging the tail out on a wet roundabout or right turn isn't really going to prove anything.

Here's a pic. The molding is just the rough GRP plug hence the scabby finish (couldn't resist flashing some silver paint on it to see how it looked though). The centre molding is the original from the car. Tomorrow I will make up a mold from the prototype before mounting it in the car.



Also some ideas on graphics should the thing actually work and end up as a permanent fixture:
