Noticed that not only is there US129, but using US74 on the SE end of
the Dragon, you can go north a short ways and pick up 28 to come back
to the Dragon on the NW end. 28, it self, looks to be nearly as twisty
as is US129. In fact, this seems to make a rather nice loop that could be
traveled rally style for time. That is, if I'm looking at the right section of
US129. Coyote
Yup, that is correct. That is a Very Big loop using 28 to 74 back to 68 in Tn & up to a number of options. Yes that is a Great Loop, I've been on all of it & sections of it, Many times over the last 15 years. It would be 150 miles+ or more depending on your way around on the North portion, by the Actual Tail of the Dragon. 74/64 goes right thru Murphy, & along Whitewater Rafting, etc, Beautiful drives, All of them.

BTW: This is one of the many Beautiful Waterfalls in the Area, on the Cherohala Parkway, nearby. (one of my pics).
