I think we're comparing apples and oranges here. After I sold my car, I sold my two spare rear wheels, with centers but NO Tires, and my extra new front wheel, no center, but WITH a brand new Michelin mounted with the TPM sensor in.

Looking at the shipping tickets now...each rear wheel, sans tire but in probably 3 lbs of shipping material, weighed 32 lbs according to UPS. So figure each bare rear wheel is 29 or so lbs.

The FRONT wheel with the tire was 51 lbs, again with about 3 lbs of shipping material, so figure 48 or so lbs for a front wheel/tire assembly, that much more for the larger rear wheel tire assembly.

So, James, the weight of your wheels is probably without tire, the weight quoted in car and driver, as Heb80 pointed out, is probably WITH the tire.
