No the mechanic is wrong it's not the design of the worm gear box. WAFI!!!

I have heard others on the forum say that there is a bolt in the steering shaft that can loosen up, first sign is your steering wheel has excessive play while the engine is running. But it could be something in the blinker housing.

Find another dealership pronto!
