FYI, mine was due to a slipped wiring harness rubbing inside.
Something else to consider.

exactly what bolt did you tighten, i looked over my whole car and the dealer said it was inner tie rod ends so i decided to look for myself and i know for sure the binding/ clicking noise is coming for the steering box itself. i would like to know what other bolt this could be??

this seems to be a common problem with the xfire mine clicks also the dealer says no go on waranty because its not a drivetrain problem. the fix is not cheap and mine wasnt in the box or lose brakes or pinch bolt i checked all those before running off to the dealer to find out it was in the upper shaft and the airbag and upper colum have to be removed at a wopping 1295 buks well i paid the 95 dollars to the dealer for checking it out and am living with my click click click xfire123 what bolt did you tighten? any help would be great

i tightened the pinch bolt just about the steering box. this is the fitting that fits over the shaft coming out of the steering box. it appeared tight so i overlooked it. but once i turned it a half turn while holding the nut on the otherside of the bolt. the noise was gone and i am a happy camper!!!
