The "limited power output" would be the 5,000 RPM lockdown. Some cars experience this, others (like mine) do not. I can pull out the fuses to the esp controller and suffer no ill side effects other than the BAS-ESP light going on in my dash. Other people have everything from inoperative spoilers to the above mentioned 5,000 RPM cutoff.
