I drove a GTP through monsoons and Ice storms, the key is to not get the filter completely submerged...I've seen the carnage of someone's under hood intake hydro-lock a motor because they drove into a huge puddle and the filter got completely soaked for a few minutes...
Freak accidents happen no matter what.
