Changing tires is one thing...but changing out some other components on newer cars is nothing like it was about cars of yester-year. Autos are so over engineered these days it's ridiculous. I have an older car and I did most of the work if something broke but there are certain things that go beyond our skill and wherewithal.
Older folks fall in the same category of paying someone else just to get it done rather than take the challenge themselves with us younger folk in certain areas. I wouldn't want to touch the engine compartment or electrical in my car because A) it's my daily driver B) If I do something wrong I'll more than likely have to pay to get that fixed plus whatever I was working on.
Heck I don't even like changing my oil even though I know how to do it because I don't want to deal with the disposal of the oil. Everyone just needs to not be testy.
