Re: which cars can we beat, keep up with, smoke, or run from?!
From a dead stop I know my 2004 PT Cruiser Turbo (with Stage 1) will walk my Crossfire. The PT has run 14.4 in the 1/4 in extreme heat on a very poorly prepared track at California Speedway. The Crossfire just isn't that quick. A bone stock PT GT Turbo would be a much closer match, but since the PT GT has the same engine as the SRT4 it has tons of potential and I know guys who are making in excess of 450 WHP and running the quarter mile as fast as 11.96 (this without nitrous!!!) Yes, PT Cruiser.
Now, a buddy of mine has a slightly modded PT that has been dyno'd at 254 WHP and 301 lb-ft at the wheels. He's also lowered it, beefed up the sway bars and fitted it with sticky tires as this is his drag and road course car. So we went head to head at Buttonwillow Raceway last weekend and I fully expected him to walk away from me on the straights and assumed he had more performance driving experience than I do so even the twisties would be a question mark.
Well...my corner entry speeds were higher than his, my grip levels were higher, and my corner exit speeds were higher. I followed him closely for a while, got around him, and just drove away. I was passing Mustang GTs, C5 Corvettes, 3 Series BMWs, etc. What a blast!!!
