Every time I shut off my car the stock air box gets super hot to the touch. So I have been trying to figure out how to keep the stock air box cool. This might have been done before but here is what I did. The hood insulation on my crossfire was all scratched and to be put lightly UGLY. So I took the thing off and noticed it has heat shielding in it so I cut 4 pieces out of it, one for each side under the filter boxes, and two big ones which I stacked on top of one another in the middle covering the middle part of the box that air flows through. Now all I have is k&n's in the stock air box, so I drove around and came back and all I can say is power feels more there especially after the car warmed up there was not much of a decrease in performance. when I came home popped the hood you can feel the difference the top of the box was cold and each of the filters were barely warm.

Just thought I would share this with you. p.s only some of the heat material is reflective so only use that half along with the spongy part. Also if someone wanted to use something else great this was all that I had at the time.
