My line went while I was grocery shopping one night. I came out and the hatch wasn't locked and I knew I locked the car because the doors were locked. It sounds like your line broke while the hatch or car was locked. Mine would open but would not lock. the dealer took care of it quickly and I've had no problem since. It is comforting to know the entire locking system is pneumatic.
