Check back through the tech forum... a while back there was a discussion concerning the same issue... some opted for 5k other decided to stay with the interval the computer in the car tells you. which is around 7k. In my case the computer was showing me I could go to 8k because of the conditions it had been driven
Personaly, I'm going with what the computer in the car says... it senses the condition of the oil.
I would never go with 3k... IMO it's only a money maker for the dealer...
I agree totally. I used to work at Quebedeaux Pontiac in Tucson, and they ALWAYS told people 3K miles, even when the manual said 5k or 7k. They used the "severe weather" tactic, dust, lack of humidity...I even heard a service advisor once tell a woman that Tucson's pothole issues caused the oil's viscosity to break down to to the shaking at high tempertaures!!! The computer should be able to tell our oil for us just fine - it has a sensor which detects deposits and other data, so it willa djust to your driving conditions and climate.
