Id say $500 is reasonable, thats 6.66 hrs at $75 an hr. $1000 is ridiculous IMO. If you have a jack, jackstands and basic hand tools(wrenches, sockets, etc) i dont see how it could be that hard, just more time consuming than taking it to your local shop.
