The mirror works mechanically...the wires are still attached, obviously...there's a metal piece that broke off that holds the mirror upright...that's what snapped. I dont' believe I need to replace the mirror aftrerall...I need the the attachment piece and will take it to a body shop or my dealer..need an oil change anyway.
