I'm not sure if leasing is set up the same way in California, as it is in Michigan... In Michigan, when a car is leased through Chrysler Financial with a contract of 12,000 miles per year, the overage charge is .20 per mile. If you sign a contract for 15,000 or more, the overage is .15 per mile. It does sound like the dealer in this case actually did make an honest mistake, especially since the current promotion is for a 12,000 mile per year lease. Changing the mileage actually changes the residual value of the car. Hope this helps clear up some confusion? Take the oil changes...synthetic isn't cheap!
