Default Re: Dashboard " fuel empty" lighting

O.k., I went and looked at mine and, when back-lit by instrument lamps (car lights on) the small red line by the Empty mark is very dim, while the area by the hot area of temp gauge is bright, flourescent red as is the tach between 6000 and 7000 RPM. Very odd, since I have an illumination bulb out behind temp gauge and red is still much, much brighter than red on fuel gauge. I then turned lights out and used a high power flash light on front of cluster - all reds same color as I would expect in daylignt without lights on. Go figure. Another fact that lends credence to a red low fuel light on fuel gauge - my service manual diagram shows a "low fuel warning lamp" in the lower area of the fuel gauge. However, it doesn't show a low fuel indicator where I have one in position 8 (Outside light in left indicator light cluster, 2nd row from bottom). Instead it shows an air bag warning light in position 8 and next to it in position 5 is where I have the air bag warning light. The book shows a low oil level light in position 5 but my car has it at an unlabeled (but shown) location at top of rignt indicator lamp cluster. I can only conclude that either the design was changed after documentation developed or things were changed from one year model to the next. Also, I have an SRT6, so maybe the cluster was different for these cars. My service manual ecopy does not indicate year model or SRT6.
