Mine worked for quite a while before it went out. The bottom red bar on the fuel guage is supposed to light up in the same way as the top section on the temperature guage.
If there are brand new Crossfires around with this fault then it shows that there is a significant problem and it's about time that Chrysler did something about it.

Every Crossfire I have driven at night has an "Empty" section next to the E.

My 04 doesn't light up too. Even one time I almost ran out of gas, and it still won't light up.

Yeah i just got my SRT-6 a month or two ago and have the same thing going on. I never got close enough to empty to see if it lit up when it got within the empty range I just figured it did. But i guess now after reading this its meant to be colorless, whcih is a little weird i think.

Hey all! Been a while....quite a while ago, I converted my speedo/tach guage face to the British SLK320 face (cream with amber lens). This allowed me to convert all lamps in gauge cluster to red LED - the amber lenses make a nice warm red-orange glow. I did note that there is a spot for a lamp in the "out-of-fuel" lens, but the actail lamp and housing were missing from factory (mine's a 2004). I wonder if it was not an intentional factory delete (silly americans never run low on gas, too cheap here?). Also, I reworked all switches in dash to red leds (very time consuming and you need wee tiny leds!). So I have (very) red illumination all over.....but I did have an extra lamp housing (pretty cheap from dealer), installed LED, and wa-la, low fuel does work...why they left lamp and fixture out is beyond me.....

Bringing this thread back from the dead because I noticed this the other day. The section that should be red is not next to the "E" on the gas guage (see pics on first page).

Who's Crossfire does actually have red and can we see pics...this is a very interesting little quirk on this car?

Uniquemethodz is the only one that I've seen that has it working.

Said that it comes on only when fuel is low. In my SRT-6 the fuel light comes on, but not this red light. Is there a two tier system to having "low fuel" (one light comes on, then the other at another point)?

Uniquemethodz does the red light come on the same time as the normal fuel light does?

I'll have to check that out, but I think all that comes on in mine is the yellow low fuel warning...

You only need to remove the bottom half of the driver side dash (fuse cover also) and then remove the mid-section dash which includes the cluster garnish. This part is tricky but once you have unbolted the bottom dash and lower screws and tabs to mid section, you need to carefully pull down the top part of the cluster garnish to release the tabs that go behind a lip under the upper dash assembly. Having the steering wheel telescope positioned closest to the driver is a must. I just did this whole process myself in less than 2 hours and it wasn't hard. This can be done in less than half an hour if you have the manual, I just didn't know where all the tabs and screws were. There are about a dozen screws to remove in the whole process and that's about it.
Replying on this mainly so I can find it later. I would like to remove the cluster without removing the steering wheel.

The factory service manual provides a map of the lamps and explains how to remove and replace them. This leads me to believe that the dealer is unaware of how the instrument cluster illumination bulbs work, or has found a way to charge a considerable amount of money for parts and labor for the replacement of a slightly difficult to access bulb. Either way it's pretty sad.

Here's the info showing the position of the various lamps and an explanation of how to remove and replace them. The bulbs in question are numbered 3, 4, 12, 13,14,15 and 23, 24, 25. It appears that one might be an IC (24) which may mean it's not replaceable (and probably won't burn out very quickly).

Reading is a wonderful gift.

I can confirm mind DID work and noticed a couple months ago it went out one day. Took it into the dealer, put a refurb cluster in and gave it back to me. Still doesn't work. Car back in currently. Tried bulbs and even dropped in a brand new cluster, still no light. VERY odd! Because I am 100% it did work at one time all the time whenever the dash lights were on NOT only when in the "E" zone.

Well they are giving it back to me because they gave up as usual. Yet another "can not duplicate" to ad to the LONG list.
