I owned a 79 Vette with the L82 motor. I had a 650 Holly double pumper carb, Edelbrock cylinder heads, performance RPM cam shaft and lifters, and headers Although i never had any issues during the entire time I owned the car, I remember there being an initial lag when you stepped on it from a stand still. However, once it got past the hesitation it cackled like a witch in heat and was off. I still remember the sweet race car sound of that performance engine. Its only downside was being an automatic.
