Thumbs up First Drive SRT Vert

First drive of my new (to me) srt-6 convertible. Pretty cool. Ride harshness with the OEM Michellins is about the same as my Evo, which has always suited me fine. I guess those who complained about it being too firm are used to driving a Taurus.

Mich rears are shot anyway -- I'm going to replace all 4 with the Goodyear F1 all-seasons -- with traction made even worse by a cold snap in the Northeast. But even with the traction control going nuts at any starts more than half throttle, the car moves out well. It doesn't have that same frenetic kick that the Evo has from 2,800 to 5,800 rpm, but doesn't have the Evo's lag below 2,800. I left it in 4th going up an inclined parkway entrance ramp from 20 mph and it pulled surprisingly well. The S-C at least likes the cold air! That makes one of us.

Auto trans defaulting back to drive after a few seconds is a little annoying, and I keep going to step on the clutch when I stop, but I can get used to it.

Brakes are just as good as the Evo's, which are very good.

Steering road feel is better on the Evo, but then again it seems like the SRT can turn a ten foot tighter circle. There's something to be said for small and nimble.

Accessories so far seem pretty good. I've only signaled a turn with my cruise control once. Heat can fry bacon while you drive. Heated seats behaving themselves as they should. Pretty decent factory stereo too. I can't wait to jam my traveling coffee mug into that impressive hide-away cup holder to test whether pieces of plastic will fly. Maybe this weekend I'll give that a try.
