Every car I've ever owned including my current daily driver F150 had/has a standard transmission. This is the first auto I'v ever owned. I have noticed the very same thing happening when trying to accelerate hard. I've finally figured out how to make the car do what I want it to do (most of the time). If you are cruising and then suddenly punch it, the car will not shift down unless you hit the switch on the floor. However, a lot of this has to do with the adaptive nature of the computer. If you normally do not accelerate hard or put around, then suddenly punch it, the car will think, "Oh, he doesn't really want to accelerate like a race car, so I'll just keep it in this lower gear..." I ocassionally have to fix this issue by performing the throttle/trans reset procedure. Once I do that, the car will down shift and hold the revs to redline before shifting. If you don't want to go through the reset all the time, either drive hard all the time, or do the easy thing, down shift it manually, then punch it! If you do that and the car still accelerates like a dog, well, then there might be a SC problem. I originally thought it was my pump, but after a good warming and many hard launches, no problems. Automatics are tempermental, and ours are very adaptive and intelligent. The trick is to out smart the car!
I have no doubt that many SRTs have the SC problem or will eventually have it, but some people not used to our transmission may think they have a problem, when they really don't.
