Interesting point, Max! The difference between the two engines could be as simple as that...

It's possible. It's even more possible that Mercedes makes different diameter crankshafts for the same lower end for all of its M112/M113-based engines.

However, it is more likely that the SRT6 has a destroked (smaller diameter) crankshaft. This would be done to create the 9.0:1 static compression ratio. Then the SRT6 would have slightly longer rods to compensate.

The thing that confuses me about this is that I haven't seen one specs page that lists the SRT6 and Base Crossfire engines as having different bore/stroke ratios - only static compression ratio! Something is just not right about this info...same bore, same stroke, and same displacement = same diameter piston, same length rod, same diameter crankshaft. No stroke, no destroke.
