Since I already had a PDA to keep my failing memory banks in line I just got the software and GPS from them.
The Driving software was $30 or so.

i expected to be doing a pda-based solution till i found the cheap lowrance. for the moment, i'm into vor/pilotage which it think is a french word meaning "pretend you're a car or train."
