The idea of wrapping the intake is to help slow the heat soaking that the aluminun piping will absorb. Part of the problem with the factory setup was that it sits right against the block, being heated the whole time you're driving. With the pipes off the block and in the air a bit, that will help some with the heat, but not entirely. Even wrappping the pipes will not completely keep the heat out, but it'll help. It's about the same idea as using an intercooler for the superchager. It takes the hot air, runs it thru a radiator like devise to cool it before going back into the engine. Wrapping won't work like an intercooler, I'm not saying that, but it'll help some. Down here in the south, we need all the cooling help we can get. Some of you guys way up north would be shocked at the power loss of driving in the high heat down here.

And I drive a Chrysler, not a MB!!
