Dunno if it's available over that side of the pond, but over here we can get a product called 'Rain-X'. Two coats on the windscreen and get up to about 35-40 MPH and little need for wipers at all. The rain just beads on impact (heavier rain beads quicker than misting rain) and immediately rolls right off, and just as clear as if wipers were running.
