Default Cupholder Solved (almost)

4/1/2008

It’s been a goal of mine ever since joining the Crossfire forum to solve the dilemma of the cupholder design. I made an observation while driving with a full cup of coffee in the holder, that the coffee would spill out over the front lip of the cup while driving on a level surface or while going down hill. Uphill the coffee would be level and not a drop was spilled. It dawned on me that if I put the 19” tires on the front and the 18” tires on the back this might solve the problem. Well, now with that configuration, while on the level driving surface, the coffee spilled over the back lip of the cup and it was even worse now going uphill. Down hill driving the coffee was perfectly level.

Here’s the good part. I wondered what would happen if I put an 18” on the left front and the right rear, and a 19” on the right front and the left rear. Guess what? Not a drop spilled uphill, downhill, or on the level.

The only problem I have now is that when braking hard, the right rear tire comes off the ground about, oh, I think about, 1”.

I’m determined to find the right combination of tire placement and will post my results next April fools day!

Crossfire Forum = Knowledge shared and a little fun along the way.
