I don't think anyone would do well to buy an XFire for a "collector" resale benefit. They are rare, cool cars but unlikely to be Gullwing SL300's. Buy a new one, pack it up in Cosmoline, and your kids might get most of it back at Barrat Jacksons in 20 years. If they are lucky
That's what makes them really good daily drivers. Milage is not an issue. The intrinsic value of the car is constant and you don't have the catastrophic depreciation of a similar Benz product. A 2001 SLK 320 stickered over $65K and fetches only $18K to $20K today. Very few will ever go for more ten years from now.
And then there is the Jag story. I can't figure how monthly payments would keep up with deprciation on one of those.
