Yup I used the magnet to.
Trying to access it by removing the side panel proved to be just as difficult so I went back to removing the pedal. The key thing here is this....
Before reinstalling the pedal and the washer DRILL THE HOLE ON THE WASHER BIGGER.
Next time if you need to get the pedal off it won't be a problem.
I also keep the socket and ratchet in the back of my car.
If that sprint booster ever fails you won't have any acceleration and if you can't remove it your screwed.
