Frankly, I didn't notice much of a difference in power right off the bat. I DO notice it now so I would hang on for a couple of hundred miles & see what happens.
As to the whine try going from 20 to 40 or so with a steady acceleration, a little load on the engine, & tell me you don't hear a nice satisfying whine. Mashing the peddle produces a nice howl though you'll be holding on too tightly to pay much attention!
