Default My first time at the drags

Well, I went up to "Real Street Drags" up at the great lakes raceway today. Since I had to drive my car a good 60 miles in a lot of traffic due to stupid 94 construction I did not expect my first run to be under 13 seconds but it was. The first three test and tune runs were as follows:

R/T: .679
60: 2.001
330: 5.538
1/8: 8.424
mph: 85.88
1000: 10.903
1/4 12.976
mph: 109.05

R/T: .673
60: 1.946
330: 5.458
1/8: 8.332
mph: 85.04
1000: 10.798
1/4 12.861
mph: 110.55

R/T: .712
60: 1.942
330: 5.458
1/8: 8.334
mph: 85.02
1000: 10.802
1/4 12.865
mph: 110.59

Then after those three runs I locked my car only to come back and have the doors not unlocking and found that my key wouldnt fit in the lock. About an hour later someone helped me fool with the lock enough only to find something had been shoved in there and we were able to break it apart and get the key in there. I'm not sure what was up with my alarm it kept going off for no reason and acting funny and not responding.

I raced the son of the guy who helped me get back into my car because I wanted to give them some money for helping me out but it ended up being a race for no money but we went heads up. He had an older cutlass with drag slicks and I'm not sure what was done to the engine but since neither of us knew they were starting it with a pro tree, it was a pretty lousy run with him winning at the end of course.

So after that I ran a couple other times, nothing too interesting since everyone is so afraid of losing I had to hand people some of the races for them to even agree to them but I didn't care it was my first time so I just wanted to get some runs in.

I raced a GTO with what the driver said had an exhaust, headers, and one other thing I can't remember but in reality when we pulled up to the line I could hear cams among other things. He gave me 1 1/2 lengths so I don't have a time slip that matters from the race but I lost.

Then got sick of being turned down for races because "man that car pulls, no way" so I just staged and wanted to see what would come up next to me and it was a trailblazer SS but the guy had turbocharged it apparently, I had to ask him afterwards because I was shocked that it stuck with me until maybe 80 mph at which point I got a good length or two.

Then the final race was a WRX who "had a burnt up clutch and blah blah blah excuses excuses" so he asked for 5 lenghts and the hit, and sure I gave it to him because I wanted to race, he won by about 2 because his clutch was clearly fine.

So in summary I apologize to all the XF owners out there that I didn't win many races, but I didn't want to spend 5 hours looking for someone that would actually put up a fair race so instead I just took what I could get even if the races were one sided.

I still had a lot of fun running today, and I very much need some new toys on my car, including those intake manifolds that needswings is working on.

Oh and I was running on the stock contis with just a Needswings intake that I wrapped in heat wrap.
