I've learned from past mistakes never to light them up when any other cars are around. You never know who may be lurking inside the other cars. My son roasted the tires at the light one time in his car and he got pulled over for wreckless driving. Besides, there are off duty police officers and also unmarked cars driving around. I love my perfect driving record the last 15 years and I don't want to jepordize it. Gas is already way too high and don't want higher insurance rates to boot.
Wise advice though it isn't any "fun" when no one's around.
I, too, haven't had a moving violation in over 15 yrs. & no accidents in the past 25. I'd like to keep it that way though now that I've "written" this down I'm probably SOL.
