To stand around at a track, with cars ready to go, and NOT race is just being chicken.
First off, your assumptions are incorrect. We were racing all night (I made 5 passes that night). I was just running test n tune most of the night and would have gladly run him for fun. Since it was the OP's first time at the track, he didn't realize you could also test and tune.
If he insisted on racing for money I could have been a ***** and easily set up a favorable race for myself (like all the other guys did that took his cash that night). It was obvious he was a track noob and unfamiliar with negotiating a money race. I didn't need to run him to know I easily had him covered. You're obviously unfamiliar with this type of event and the caliber of cars that show up there.
Good thing you weren't at the track with him that night, he'd have lost twice as much as he did.
