Makes sense. I never really considered that the headunit itself may still be "trying" to receive a signal, but then again I'm not really considering a wired FM transmitter either.
As for overall sound quality, my car is a Roadster and the top is almost always down. I don't expect concert hall sound with 80mph wind noise, I just want to listen to what I want to listen to, when I want to listen to it. Hence my desire for an iPod integration solution. In my closed vehicle I've upgraded virtually everything and enjoy quality sound - the Crossfire is different, especially with the new Magnaflow exhaust.
