Maybe we could get a Group Buy going on this

All the splice-into-the-antenna units I've seen basically kill the antenna inputs when using the iPod.
That's the theory - that the wired in FM antenna connection won't have interference because the antenna is shut off however, in practice (I tried it with the Drive + Play) there is still interference because the radio is still capable of receiving broadcast signals even though you may have the antenna toggled off.) The bottom line for people with decent hearing who can hear quality audio, FM modulation just won't be satisfactory.

Now if you're half deaf, or if you are cruising at speed with windows open/top down, or could never tell the difference with Dolby turned on or off... then you might be happy with FM modulators (wireless or wired).

All I can tell you is that the day I direct-wired my iPod to the back of my aftermarket, high-end head unit, using real AUX-in's, the sound quality made a huge improvement. And I have old ears...

Think twice before spending the money to emulate a CD changer through the factory NAV radio, just to plug in the iPod. You can do a lot better with a new head unit that simply takes an iPod as another device. Better sound, additional options, better user interface. OK it might not be all silver...But you might even just about come close to spending the same money.

Yep. That would've made me irrate and I might would've had to write one of my 3 paragraph-long posts. Ha ha. Just kidding.

Unless he just doesn't allow them to date.

Or introduces their dates to the shotgun he keeps behind the door.
Funny, I thought I had posted a pic. Here is a link from MMZ. Look at post 7 and you should see the pic from behind out NAV units. This is a good thread.

Makes sense. I never really considered that the headunit itself may still be "trying" to receive a signal, but then again I'm not really considering a wired FM transmitter either.

As for overall sound quality, my car is a Roadster and the top is almost always down. I don't expect concert hall sound with 80mph wind noise, I just want to listen to what I want to listen to, when I want to listen to it. Hence my desire for an iPod integration solution. In my closed vehicle I've upgraded virtually everything and enjoy quality sound - the Crossfire is different, especially with the new Magnaflow exhaust.

Makes sense - the true drivers will tell us that there's no place for tunes in a car that's really driven - you only have enough attention span to handle the commitment of driving... Me, I still like to hear something like Kashmir while I drift through a hot corner...
