Thanks for the responses.
The reality is that as you go door to door under the guise of "selling something" you are really selling your church and religion. Many people, myself included, find this underhanded and do not appreciate it.
If I want to go to your church then I will do so. There is no reason whatsoever to come to me. It's the same with charity - I'll give to charity on my own terms, but don't call me requesting a donation (I roundly swore at the last couple of callers from the March of Dimes and threatened to file a police report against them if they called me one more time. Harsh but I can only request that my number be deleted from their calling list so many times).
I'm trying not to come across as beating up on you and hope you don't take this as such. It appears your church has been good to you and for you and that you won't be a dreg on society. But to me religion is a private and personal matter that does not involve meetings or leaders or frameworks to organize and worship by. My involvement, if any, in religion is decided by me and only by me and I simply do not want or seek any outside influence.
I'm sorry that this post has taken such a negative tone but I'm slowly getting irritated over my phone constantly ringing a couple of times then the caller hanging up. I do believe it's time to update my number in the Do Not Call registry.
