You've got a very good point that has been on the back of my mind.
I used to have a Mitsu 3000GT VR4 which also had a speed-deployed rear-spoiler and front dam and although I didn't have the problem, I've heard that other owners had an issue with water getting into the system, freezing and then the motor would burn out when it tried to deploy.
I'll ask my mechanic to check with DCX and see what they say.
The other way to do it is to deploy it manually, obstruct it and see what it does. It might have a jam and resistance sensor like the rear hatch of my Pacifica, in which case, kudos to the designers.

I have concerns about winter-ice freezing it closed. I assume the motor has a pressure limit (eventually give-up if its frozen or otherwise stuck in the closed position) instead of just burning out the motor. But, anyone know for sure? Or, just want to try it out on their's?
