I said I would check out the shifting on my car, and here are the results. I admit the results are hardly scientific, but they will suffice for this demonstration.
Weather Conditions:
Clear Skies, Sunny, 80 degrees, B/P 30.03", Humidy 54%
Location:
Unused large parking lot - dry asphalt
I did 5 tries for each type, and the results were always the same with my car. All tests were done from being stopped with the transmission in the "D" position.
With a smooth slow start, the transmission would shift from 1st to 2nd at 1800 RPM - 10 mph
With the accelerator pushed to the floor, the transmission would shift from 1st to 2nd at 5000 RPM - 30 mph.
If someone else would try this test with their car, it may put an end to this.
But then again, probably not.....
