New XFIRE Owner looking for opinions
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It appears that he is, because from the time that some real data was presented, there has been no word.......
Maybe it is his friendly offer on that car that decreases by $1K per day! And delivered to his door at no extra charge! What a deal!!!!
forum fool? Man, I am really getting some good one liners here lately!

A sluuuuugish take off can be attributed to the early shift from 1-2 and if you roll off the line the autostick shifts very quickly to second. And if you think it's in 1 and give it pedal it will not downshift unless put the pedal to floor! .Thank you.

Is he saying that he gets his car going 4-5 mph and, takes his foot off of the accelerator? Then of course the transmission will shift into second gear, even at 4-5 mph. That is it's job! And then when you push down on the accelerator again, the transmission will have to change gears at that point, which would be back into 1st gear. You could also do that manually by moving the indicator from "D" back to "1".
But who drives like that?

Wow.....so what you guys are telling me if I understand all this correctly is this:
When one drives a Xfire equipped with Autostick gearbox like a reasonable, normal driver it will start in 1st, provided the selector switch is in S for Summer and not W for winter and then:
a) with moderate application of the throttle shift up early to lower rpms and save fuel since I am apparently not in much of a hurry.
b) with WOT application allow much higher REVs and really get going fast and then shift up into second, third and so on.
OR
If someone drives like a complete nutcase who doesn't understand the basics of automatic transmissions it will behave more in tune with it's driver and first upshift early and then back down once that moron behind the wheel stomps on the accelerator and then back up once the rpms reach somewhere around 5500
Does that sound about right.....because if so I am glad to report that my lovely Blaze is just fine.....just like WM's or JS's or Bobs or any other Autostick Xfire out there

Thanks JS ;-)
One thing caught my attention in WM's post though. The fact that he said the shift points were moved due to his ECU tuning. This raises the question on whether the tranny is somewhat adaptive like in most new VW's and Audis where the ECU actually "learns" your driving style and can lead to some confused shifting if a different driver, using the same ignition key, drives the car. Or is it running on a fixed program and hydraulic pressures ?
My buddy back home in Germany gets a lot of customers that "complain" about erratic shifting A6's and A8s ....solely because they used the wifes key
They may also be crammed up against the steering wheel by their power seat, but that's another topic.

And it sounds to me like you drive like I drive. Sometimes conservative, sometimes WOT.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that one of the problems with disconnectiong the battery is that all the memory is lost, so I would assume that the transmission is "learning" from your driving style.
I will see if I can find that info.....

I wonder if anyone has ever used this 'memory setting for another driver' as a defence in court
Imagine:
Defendant - "I'm sorry m'lud, but the wife must drive really fast. I used her keys this morning."
Judge - "Ok Sonny. Don't use them again. Next case please."
Are there any memory setting in the ECU for a manual tranny?

Hi all,
that would explain why my baby is shifting slightly different now than when new. And does seem to be a bit more "aggressive" when the tranny is left alone ;-)
As far as the defense goes...I am not sure that would work so easily but I'd give it a shot.
David....did you not read the posts where it was explained that it never starts in 1st ???? just kidding just kidding.
And yes I like to mix it up a little as far as driving styles go. When I am just going from A to B I usually l drive very conservatively, within the speed limits and all that stuff.....when I am driving for the fun of driving....all bets are off

Smaller/larger groups... it's all the same!!! Ask any of the 16 drivers who ran Latigo Canyon last month... in this case, size doesn't matter. It would of been the same no matter how many cars were racing through the canyon...
LOL David....
but rest assured there is WOT even with our large groups. Ok sometimes one might get stuck behind a member who doesn't exactly drive "on the edge"
.
But all you have to do is make sure after the next stop you roll of infront of them
But I prefer doing the real runs alone...unless it's on a track. That way there is no chance of peer pressure leading to a calamity.
But I make you a deal...come out to one of or Hook-Ups and I'll join you guys one a Cross-Up
