According to the literature I recal reading while researching this car, yes, the auto "learns" as you drive. Just like the "Touch Shift" auto on the SLK320 (since it's that same tranny, no resemblance to a Chrysler "Auto-Stick").

And it sounds to me like you drive like I drive. Sometimes conservative, sometimes WOT. What I have noticed is that when I "roll off the line", my car being stationary in order to be off the "line", it starts in 1st gear. Isn't that WEIRD!?!
