Thanks to our good friend MHRON I did pretty much the same thing he did today, I bought the same head unit so I could use my iPod, I was going crazy changing CD's all the time.

I took a different route when it came to mounting the iPod, you see, I didn't want it out there in plain sight so I hid it in the armrest.

I routed a belkin cable to the back of the lighter so I could have power and audio, but I had to control it somehow without having to open the armrest and contort myself every time.

This is were it gets tricky, I had a NaviPod wireless remote control for the iPod and I thought I could mount the infrared sensor to the tip of a black cigarette lighter and lengthen the cable, I did that and it looked pretty nice, but guess what the cable was so long that the signal didn't reach the circuit board on the NaviPod.

That led me to PLAN B, I took the wired remote controller that came with the iPod and lenghtened tha cable, this time it worked, all I had to do now was find a reasonable location for it, after a while I decided to mount it on the ashtray.

I was planning on doing a flush mount kind of thing but after checking the price for a new ashtray (a whopping $250.00 USD) I chickened out and just mounted it in top.

This way I have full control of my iPod and I don't have it ruining an otherwise pretty uncluttered dashboard.

Now if I can only find a way to post some pictures on my album!!!!!
