Not sure on the speaker sizes (check DFWSBR's posts for a link to his 'replace the factory system" web site).
Keep in mind the "box" behind the seats houses the fuel tank.

Like the unit, think it might be my first upgrade.
It is on the rear on the unit. I ran the RCA-to-mini cable through a seam in the plastic on the side of the console inside the glove compartment. I can then just tuck the cable in to the glove compartment when I don't need it. I can take a picture if you would like to see it.

I really like your setup. I am thinking of doing something similar, but without modifying the ashtray because I am on a lease. My one question is, with the Sony head unit, were you able to just connect the Belkin cable directly? I have read about people having problems with the RCA jacks on some Sony head units, with them not working without some kind of adapter. It seems some RCA jacks are non-standard with Sony.
Again, the install is very clean. I am thinking of making some kind of mount for the iPod that I can put in the slot in my center console (I have a base coupe with no cup holder). I'll route the belkin as you have and be able to see the iPod while I drive to change songs. Still haven't found any inexpensive mounting solution though.

The cable is plug and play, it's a standard minijack to RCA cable.
I'm sure you'll figure something out, but you could always buy the ashtray and store it so you can return your car when the lease is up.
