Default GPS Navagation System

Does anyone have any interior pics of the Xfire with the stock GPS system?

Thumbs down Re: GPS Navagation System

I don't have any pics but I can tell you that when I was at dealership last, they had a roadster with the GPS and you could hardly tell the difference from the stock radio. Apparently, the GPS is not a visual colour display but simply a voice prompt. You program the thing through the radio somehow.
If I had pics, you'd probably be disappointed or question whether the car even had GPS.

Not missing much!

Wink Re: GPS Navagation System

Only visual difference (with radio off) is the center top button on the NON-GPS radio is black and on the GPS version it is silver.
As to the readout.......................since the screen is STILL the same size all you get are some arrows and small symbols (Black LCD on Green-as the regular radio has).
One thing that is cool is that there is Voice that tells you what to do..............Turn Left at...
When compared to the full color three dimensional GPS in MANY other cars, it's hard to justify the $1200 option.
BUT........................................the Radio does sound MUCH better. I couldn't find any specs (yet) but it definately sounds better that the Original Radio.

In Canada, the option is $1,500.cdn I'm glad it was not an option in '04 because I probably would have gone for it and boy would I have been disappointed with the "voice only" directions.

Not a good deal at all.

I'm beginning to really want one..........How many things can we hang off the dash though - LOL

Between Cell phones, Sat. Radio, and a GPS....the car will look horrible. I just want everything intergrated in the dash

Currentlty there are no other manufactures doing the same thing as Pioneer (AVIC-N1)

I am sure after CES (Consumer Electronics Show) either myself or Ben from the other car audio store can inform you on new stuff. I am sure others will have some thing.

You can take a look at Kenwoods site but it does not have the built in navigation.

KVT-915DVD (DVD HEADUNIT)
KNA-DV3100 (NAV)
KTC-SR902 (SIRIUS TUNER)
CX-SR40 (SIRIUS ANT.)

Cool Re: GPS Navagation System

Hi,

Talking to one of my local dealers parts departments, they said that Mopar is coming out with a new unit (sometime in November) for the 2004 Xfire, and I think it's supposed to have a screen. Considering the confusion that I've found between dealers about what is available, I have my doubts:-)

The Pioneer unit is cute, but considering the limited space in the cockpit, I'm not inclined to start hanging things off the dash, windshield, etc.

By the way, we have a 2004 Blaze Red Crossfire - almost a month old - and we love it.
