Gonna put in my two cents here, too. I have bought, driven and sold 5 brand new Mercedes Benz vehicles in the last 5 years. I guess that would qualify them as being of recent vintage and perhaps qualify me as being somewhat familiar with the product offering. Two of them were SLK's, the basis for our car. I typically drive in excess of 34K miles a year in commute and sales work. I have never heard as much as a squeak from any MB rear ends. All of them saw typical Colorado weather from 90 degree summer days to snow packed streets in the fall and Winter and even the Spring some years. I hate to read broad generalizations in the forum because they don't add to the general air of assistance or comraderie here, but where does a person get off blasting an entire marque because he had a problem with an old model? There is an old proverb that goes something like this:
It is better to remain silent and be thought ignorant than to open your mouth (or use your keyboard) and remove all doubt. I am going to quit typing this now, because the next part would add little value to this thread and the poster to whom this is truly directed might not understand it anyways.
