It's not always about being faster, it's about being more involved in the driving process. Switching the SRT to a manual would be extremely difficult, mostly due to the ECU wanting to see an automatic.

only a true man can handle that brown beast. i feel so sad for the owners of the 1000+hp veyron and even the lowly srt6, they have no idea what a "real" car is. Only the drivers of manual cars such as the 50hp honda civic know what that is all about.
