You were thinking it was the amp that was bad so you have two choices
1. replace it and soldier on
2. replace it and the head unit (a much more involved and expensive choice)
If you're confused, I'd stick with option one - a simple swap.
If you have no budget to consider, by all means, option two - and probably turn the work over to a competent stereo installer...
