I took a 2k mile trip to Wyoming and back this summer, and averaged around 28 mpg speeds from 70 to 80 mph. I kept a spreadsheet of which gas stations I stopped at, price per gallon and mileage. I thought perhaps I would figure out which station sold the best gas that way. I didn't find much of a difference. I also didn't find much difference between having the top down or up either.

My best mileage recorded was between MN and WI after stopping at a Super America with 33mpg with 93 octane, I figure the pump must have shut off early or something.


My mixed mileage driving back and forth to work is 25.5 over 22 miles, with 91 octane premium.

I have a base roadster with a 6 spd manual. I could probably get better on my way to work but stopping and starting is half the fun.
